Monthly Build Contest

“just in case I submitted incorrectly this is my backup <3”

“They said I couldn't do it but here we are!! GOING FOR 3RD PLACE BB LETS GOOO!!”

“Procrastistation is my first PC. Built to stop procrastinating on both my coursework and my backlog. It's a 1440p gaming rig and engineering workstation in one, a 9070 XT that outperforms almost anything else new less than $1000, paired with an i5 12400F for CAD work in Fusion 360 and SolidWorks, and running simulations in Ansys and MATLAB. spending more towards the GPU for rendering CAD assemblies during the week and pushing high frame rates on weekends. 16GB of RAM covers 99% of my workloads, and a single stick means upgrading to 32GB is easier later on. No wasted spending, and no bottlenecks I can't live with.”

“This build, despite letting someone peek into the side seems almost lifeless without any RGB in your face- until you load up your game and see 100+ fps in even the most demanding AAA titles currently. It should stay just as quiet for late night gaming sessions or to cram for that final while your roommates are sound asleep (with the right settings).”

“I think this PC would be really useful for school because I could use it for video editing, Blender, 3D modeling, and rendering. A lot of those programs can take a long time to run, so having a strong PC would make working on projects faster and easier. It would also give me more freedom to work on bigger and more detailed projects without having to worry as much about the PC slowing down. I could use it for different school assignments and projects while also learning more about editing and 3D design. When I’m not doing schoolwork, I’d also use it for gaming and playing some of the games I enjoy. Overall, I’d mainly be using this PC for school and creative projects, with gaming being something I use it for in my free time.”

“Hi, I am a broke high schooler who uses my current pc for my daily schoolwork and productivity with gaming on the side. However, my pc is struggling heavily on games since I am using a 8 year old budget pc with a GTX 1060 and a Ryzen 5 2600 with 8 gb of DDR4. I am not able to upgrade or buy much because I don't have enough money for this current PC market. I can only run light titles like Fort, MC, and GD at 1080p 60hz. Even school work is bad since I download at 1 mb per second. This PC will be able to do these tasks in its sleep. If I win this pc I will be able to multitask, run AI and 3d tasks easily, and play heavy titles. The pc that I built has the whole look of "Your average office pc" used for normal school work and daily browsing. But taking one look inside changes everything. Removing the cover will lead you to find a 1440p gaming beast in pure disguise, with a 9060 XT 16gb and a Intel i5 14400f, along with 32 gb of DDR4. Please vote for me to help me get my dream setup :)”

“Want a 9070? Want AM5? Have we got a deal for you!”

“I used the best components for the budget where they matter, This PC gives you great performance can be upgraded in the future when the AI bubble crashes (hopefully). It has the best current air cooling in a compactish form factor. Great to keep on top of a desk and hide when not in use!”

“For a dorm sleeper, noise, looks, utility, and heat are my main priorities. I paired a Ryzen 7600X with a Phantom Spirit cooler. These fans are overkill, which lets them run silent. I chose the RTX 4060 Ti over the AMD alternatives for its low power draw and CUDA support. This is vital for college tasks and hobbies beyond gaming, like art, creative work, 3D work, VR, STEM, VMs, engineering, and AI. The ASUS AP201 is a breathable black mesh case, fitting humble the sleeper vibe perfectly. Currently, I rely on a base-model Optiplex 7050 and a ThinkPad T490. Both lack dGPUs and use old DDR4 memory. They struggle with modern multitasking, creative software, gaming, and engineering tasks. Winning this build would replace my aging hardware with a quiet, powerful AM5 workstation. It would give me the utility I need for my studies and hobbies without the noise of a struggling system. This is a practical, sleek machine designed with upgradability in mind to grow with me through graduation.”

“I made this build to get solid 1440p gaming and decent productivity. It's crammed into a clean mATX case that would look nice on a desk or next to a TV. It’s got a decent upgrade path too if needed. I currently use an ASUS ZenBook Flip 15 laptop. I got it about 7-8 years ago, and it’s pretty old now. Running any modern games on it isn’t really viable anymore. It’s also becoming difficult to use for productivity, like running CAD or virtual machines on it. Winning means I finally get a PC that can handle modern games and my workloads.”

“I'm going to uni in late august, and when i saw the reel about the contest i knew i had to join. ATRAXIA NOCTIS [DS]: Named after the Greek 'Ataraxia' [serenity], the Latin 'Noctis' [night], and the 'DS' [Dorm Sleeper], Serene Night, both calm and powerful yet at first glance is unassuming. instead of chasing instant performance, i built this to be like a Pokémon that evolves with you. I chose an AM5 architecture for a worryless foundation, an B650M Pro RS, and a Platinum 750W PSU to allow for future proofing, allowing for upgrading to just be a buy and drop. It features a 1TB of NVMe storage for high workloads and gaming, and while it has 16GB of RAM now, the 4 RAM slots make upgrading to 64GB a possibility. The Fractal Pop Mini Silent puts all the parts into a near silent, closed off case that looks like a normal workstation. This is a True Sleeper: stealthy and upgradable to boot.”

“Fills every requirement”

“I want to use this for my dream of animation like the make a good movie for sonic or something idk don’t really wanna hate on anyone also I am using ddr5 so this is very upgradable if I used ddr4 I would have used an 9070xt or something so it is omega good Also the most upvoted one must not win because it uses ddr4 and only 4 gb not even enough for google and it is just so stacked into the gpu that is now like 1.3k”

“This bad boy easily fits even in the smallest rooms. Slap a portable monitor to it and you can procrastinate anywhere you want.”

“This is meant to be silent and run cool. It is great for 1080p and some 1440p but can still run some engineering software or just watch youtube all day.”

“This build is similar to my wood grain weirdo build but in a different mATX case. Some notable differences are the cheaper (but still good) ASRock PRO 750w bronze PSU and 500gb gen 4 SSD to save money in service of a better CPU, the Ryzen 5 9600X. The motherboard is the MSI PRO B850M-A WIFI for both performance and aesthetic reasons. The two-tone black and silver look helps match the single stick of white Patriot Viper Elite 5 RAM for the cheapest 16gb 6000mt cl30 possible in the part picker. The motherboard also a boasts fantastic feature set including 2 USB type C ports, 5gb LAN connectivity, and a WiFi 7 card since you can't always trust that there's an ethernet port available. The graphics card is a 16gb ASUS Dual Radeon RX 9060 XT which has a quiet and performance BIOS switch alongside software that only kicks the fans on at 60°C. This is all inside the JONSBO D32 STD because it has a USB C port on the front IO. Currently don't have a functional PC so this would be great.”

“Who Gives a crap About R-B-G Or whatever this build is PURE PERFORMANCE!!! (I KNOW WHAT I GOT!!!) WITH 32GB or R*M and a RX 9070 GRE this build is per-per-per-PERFECT”

“I think this a good option because it has a smaller form factor (17.72"D x 9.09"W x 17.68"H) so it will be easier to move from home to the dorm and back. It also lacks a glass panel, so you do not have to worry about it breaking during transport. My current build is a Lenovo all in one, with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, integrated graphics equivalent to about a GT 1030 graphics card, and a 512 (476.9 usable) Gigabyte Samsung SSD (it’s a family pc) I'm about to go into my Senior year of high school and I am planning to go into engineering, specifically Electrical or Computer Engineering, so a computer with some increased power would help a lot. I am saving up for a laptop, but it would be nice if the money that I have saved up could go to help me afford my textbooks, so a win in this could go a long way. I really just joined this to have fun, but it would be wonderful if I actually won this!”

“This microwave-looking Mini-ITX PC would fit in perfectly in any dorm or college apartment, your roommates might even try to reheat some pizza in it. I recently got married, and my wife and I like to take breaks from our college classes by playing games together on our laptops. If we won, she would get this PC, and we would be able to play some of the games that her laptop struggled to run before. We would use this PC as both a college workstation and our first console, and play lots of co-op games like It Takes Two, Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, Palworld, etc.”

“Riiight in the budget! I've dreamed of making a Q300L build for yearsss and it fits the criteria perfectly. mATX form factor allows to fit in in smaller spaces (Can both lay it sideways or slip it in a corner very easily) as well as being easy to transport. Going for the AM4 form factor allows us to get ram for less exorbitant prices (we can fit 32GB of ram!) while also leaving room for a beefier GPU. The motherboard comes with Wifi (in case running an ethernet cable is impossible, as it can be in many many dorms). Great PSU, a silent cooler (Noctua low profile) as well as a 2-fan GPU means noise levels will be very low on calm tasks! A lovely spin on a build I've dreamed to make forever.”
