Privacy Policy

Plain-English summary

UFDForge collects the minimum it needs to run a PC-builder service. We don't sell your data and we don't run advertising. The site is funded by affiliate commissions when you buy parts through our links.

Authentication

We use Clerk for authentication and only support single sign-on with Google, Twitch, or Discord — we never see or store your password. Clerk stores your identifier and the SSO tokens needed to keep you signed in. See Clerk's own privacy policy for their handling of that data.

We store a single record per user — a stable identifier from Clerk — used to associate saved builds, upgrade plans, and preferences with you. We do not store your email address.

UFDForge on Discord

When you use UFDForge inside Discord (our Discord app), you authorize us through Discord's own consent screen. We receive your Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar, and the server or channel the app was opened in. We store your Discord user ID — linked to your UFDForge account if you have one — so builds and preferences follow you between Discord and the site.

  • Builds made in Discord — saved like site builds. If you don't have a UFDForge account yet, they're held against your Discord ID and claimed automatically when you sign in on ufdforge.com with Discord.
  • Usage events — we record minimal first-party events (e.g. a build was created or shared, an error occurred) tied to a random session identifier, used only to keep the app working. No third-party analytics run inside the Discord app.
  • What we never do — we never share Discord data with affiliate partners, advertising services, or data brokers, never include it in affiliate or tracking links, and never sell it.

Deleting your UFDForge account (see below) also removes your linked Discord ID and Discord-created builds. If you've only ever used UFDForge inside Discord, email hello@ufdforge.com with your Discord username and we'll delete your data within 30 days.

What we keep

  • Saved builds — the part list, build name, share slug, and timestamps. Yours to delete from /my-builds at any time.
  • Upgrade plans — snapshot of your current parts, budget, and scenario. Yours to delete from the upgrade plans list.
  • Preferences — vendor, brand, form-factor, aesthetics, and budget-tier choices you set on /preferences. Stored locally (browser) when signed out, on our database when signed in. Yours to clear at any time.
  • Anonymous build counts — we may track how often a given component appears in saved builds, anonymized, to surface "popular choice" signals. Not linked to your identity.

Cookies + local storage

Required cookies from Clerk keep you signed in. We use browser local storage for in-progress builds (so they survive a refresh) and for preferences when you're signed out. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising cookies.

Affiliate partners

When you click a deal link, your browser is redirected to a partner retailer (currently Amazon Associates and Newegg via Rakuten Advertising). Those retailers may set their own cookies and process your activity per their privacy policies. UFDForge earns a small commission on qualifying purchases at no cost to you.

Price-tracking disclaimer

UFDForge surfaces sentiment-only verdicts (“Lowest in 30 days”, “Excellent value”) derived from third-party historical data. We do not offer price-tracking, price-alerting, or any persistent watch functionality for Amazon products. Prices displayed are accurate as of the timestamp shown on each item.

Data deletion

You can delete saved builds, upgrade plans, and preferences yourself from inside the app. For full account deletion (your user row, all associated data, and your Clerk sign-in identity), use the “Delete my account” button in the danger zone on /preferences. Deletion takes effect immediately.

If you can't reach a signed-in session, email hello@ufdforge.com with the email address tied to your SSO and we'll delete on your behalf within 30 days.
